Our Practice
Wentz Foot & Ankle Specialists is located in the beautiful mountain town of Salida, Colorado, and serves the residents of and visitors to central Colorado. Our patient-centered clinic treats patients of all ages and offers same-day appointments for urgent needs.
Dr. Ralph Wentz, a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, opened the practice in 1994. He and his staff share an unwavering commitment to providing the highest standard of medical and surgical care of the foot, ankle and lower leg.
Our office is conveniently located on the campus of Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, where Dr. Wentz performs surgery.
Our Physicians
Dr. Ralph Wentz is a doctor of podiatric medicine and board-certified foot and ankle surgeon. With more than 35 years of experience, he provides gentle, expert care to patients of all ages with foot, ankle and lower-leg conditions.
Read More…An avid skier and competitive mountain biker, Dr. Wentz decided as a 15-year-old ski patroller in northern Pennsylvania that he wanted to help heal the broken bones and other injuries he witnessed on the ski mountain.
Dr. Wentz received his medical training at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency in trauma and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Prior to opening his Salida practice in 1994, Dr. Wentz spent five years in Colorado Springs, where he worked at Penrose and Memorial hospitals. He also served as a sports medicine consultant at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Dr. Wentz is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and has served on the board of directors of the Colorado Foot & Ankle Society.
Dr. Jennifer Wentz is a doctor of podiatric medicine and a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. A Salida native, she returned to her hometown to practice medicine after pursuing her education.
Read More…Dr. Jennifer Wentz earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She then completed a three-year residency in foot and ankle surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, based at a Level I trauma center in Roanoke, Va.
She pursued an additional year of advanced training through the Virginia Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Richmond, Va. Her fellowship focused on advanced techniques in trauma surgery, arthroscopic ankle surgery, total ankle replacement, wound care and limb preservation.
Dr. Jennifer Wentz sees patients at our Salida office and the HRRMC Buena Vista Health Center. She is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Podiatric Medical Association.
